Bath City fans who thought they had seen the worst British Gas Business Premier Division performance of the season from Saturday's opponents Cheshunt were sadly proved wrong last night. Shambolic City's first half display against Clevedon easily ranks as their worst ever under John Relish. At times last season, City were guilty of failing to kill teams off, yet last night they were comprehensively murdered by an inspired Clevedon Town side in just half an hour. Of course, it all adds extra weight to City's home hoodoo which officially stepped up from strange anomaly to minor crisis last night. And with a potential run of six straight home games, depending on cup results, it's a problem that needs sorting out immediately.

A blistering opening spell from the visitors saw shell-shocked City all but out of the game with just 30 minutes played. Clevedon had already gone close twice when they took a deserved lead after seven minutes. Lewis Hogg conceded a debatable free-kick on the edge of the area and the dead-ball was curled beautifully into the top left corner by Leon Hapgood. It was 2-0 on 20 minutes when a great Clevedon move down the right ended with Jack Pitcher diving to head the ball home from a Hapgood cross. That man Hapgood made it three eight minutes later by tucking away Pitcher's saved shot. Mike Green and Jim Rollo both hit speculative efforts as City came back into it but Clevedon were good value at 3-0 and could have been even further ahead by the break.

At half-time, Relish switched to a 3-5-2 formation and replaced hapless defenders Steve Jones and Chris Holland with Craig Davidge and Sekani Simpson. The visitors sat back on their lead and managed to deal with most of what City hurled at them. The half's best effort came when Scott Rogers' curling shot from a Davidge cross hit the post. Then was Arek Zarczynski's turn to crack the woodwork with a header at the far post from a Davidge cross. Pitcher almost made it 4-0 with a first-time lob that keeper Richard Fey only just managed to scramble away. The game was over as a spectacle with ten minutes to go, City still piled on the pressure. Dean Clarke, Hogg and Scott Partridge all saw efforts blocked but Zarczynski wasted the side's best chance after trying to take the ball around Danny Greaves in a one-on-one chance.
