Bath City boss John Relish is sweating this morning on the fitness of star winger Andy Sandell following his side's Somerset Premier Cup defeat by Mangotsfield last night. Sandell limped off in the second half of the cup tie with an ankle injury and he could have to be ruled out of the Southern Premier Division game against Tiverton on Saturday. "We're still hoping it's not too bad but it's looking dodgy," said Relish. "I've got no complaints about the scoreline. But I was anxious just to avoid injuries to key players, so that was a blow for us." He added: "Overall, I thought we played quite well. We had most of the possession but didn't create enough chances."

City, fielding just six first-team regulars, started brightly with Alex Sykes curling a shot wide in the opening minutes and Phillip Walsh just failed to get on the end of a great cross from Jim Rollo. Mangotsfield came back into the game and when City's defence failed to clear a corner, Ollie Price popped up to head home from six yards out. The rest of the half provided few chances, although Field keeper Nick Yeo was forced into a smart save when Sandell's delicate throughball was blasted goalward by Sykes.

City were on top at the start of the second half but they again failed to turn possession into chances. Mangotsfield hit back with their best spell of the game and City's debut keeper Chris Astley, who had previously made some poor clearances, redeemed himself with two fine, diving saves in quick succession from Chris Lane and James Zabek. It was third time lucky for Mangotsfield though when Dave Seal picked the ball up from 20 yards out and delivered an inch-perfect chip to make it 2-0. City pressed for a goal but, apart from a last-ditch tackle from Gary Warren on Scott Partridge, they rarely troubled Yeo.
