Another Trophy game, another mass brawl for City as their cup campaign came to an inglorious end at Twerton Park. Strangely, it was the punch-up in the previous round that cost them this tie with City's usually solid defence conceding two soft goals in the absence of suspended keeper Paul Evans and centre-half Gethin Jones. The latest melee was not quite so costly but by then the damage had been done and City were left to wonder what might have been had Jones and Evans not raised their fists in the last round.

It was still rough justice for the home side who restricted their Conference South opponents to few chances and pretty much dominated the game from the tenth minute onwards. Until then it looked like Yeading might run away with it following some good chances in the opening stages. The visitors even thought they had taken an early lead when Errol Telemaque volleyed home from the edge of the six-yard box only to see the effort chalked off for offside on three minutes. City survived the early scare and took the lead after a spell of pressure resulted in three quick corners. An Andy Sandell cross was only half cleared and the ball bounced kindly for Jim Rollo who cracked a sweet first-time shot straight into the top corner from 25 yards to spark some dubious dancing celebrations. It took Yeading just four minutes to respond. Poor marking allowed Telemaque to steal into the six-yard box and head home a Steve Wales cross. The game ebbed and flowed for the rest of the half as good chances went begging for both sides. Chippenham target Scott Partridge failed to hit the mark but played like he had a point to prove and was at the heart of all Bath's best moves. City enjoyed more of the possession but Yeading had the clearest opportunity to take a lead into the break when Telemaque skewed a free, diving header wide from eight yards out.

Both teams tightened up in the second half and there were few chances for either side. Yeading struggled to break out of their own half at times but some stout defending restricted the home side to few chances despite dominating the game. And it was the away side who took the lead with 15 minutes to go, against the run of play, when Bath keeper Justin Shuttlewood completely misjudged a through ball from Wales to leave Telemaque with a tap-in. It was tough luck on City and their frustration boiled over a few minutes later when Yeading were reluctant to give the ball back for a free-kick. A slight tangle between two players suddenly flared into a 21-man rumble to spark memories of last round's Bromsgrove game. Tag-team partners Evans and Jones were safely in the stands this time though and apart from some severe posturing there was little in the way of contact with only three bookings when the dust had settled. Yeading managed to kill the game after that by playing into the corners and the visitors held out comfortably.
